In 2024, Nigeria ranked fifth globally for the most daily time spent on social media, with Nigerians averaging 3 hours and 23 minutes per day. This impressive figure underscores the country’s strong digital presence, as platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok dominate conversations, trends, and entertainment.

Kenya topped the list with people spending an average of 3 hours and 43 minutes daily on social media, followed by South Africa at 3 hours and 37 minutes, Brazil at 3 hours and 34 minutes, and the Philippines at 3 hours and 33 minutes. 

Other countries with high social media usage include Colombia (3:22), Chile (3:11), and Indonesia (3:11). Saudi Arabia and Argentina rounded out the top ten, with daily averages of 3 hours and 10 minutes, and 3 hours and 8 minutes, respectively.

On the other side, countries like Ghana (2:43), Egypt (2:41), and Thailand (2:30) recorded lower social media engagement. Among European countries, Portugal (2:23), Romania (2:20), and Italy (2:17) also ranked lower, showing that social media usage varies significantly across regions.
